Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi has been one of the most talked about players in world football when it comes to transfers. He has been continuously linked with a move away from the Italian club over the last few years, but any interest has not materialised into a serious offer.

The club recently spent a lot of money in revamping the squad. The likes of Kevin Strootman have arrived to the club, who are hoping to qualify for the Champions league after a long absence from this competition. The 23-year-old Strootman will be a major asset to the club and he was chased by a number of big clubs before Roma sealed the transfer.

He has now said that the club should do everything within the means in order to keep midfielder De Rossi at the club because he thinks that the 29-year-old Italian international is an integral part of the team. The one club man has been linked with a £ 20 million move to Chelsea in the last few weeks. Chelsea manager José Mourinho is a well-known admirer of the defensive stalwart, who can also be the focus of attacks as well. Strootman himself has said that he is not worried about the competition for places within the squad because there are several matches in the season.

“I am not worried about the competition for places in the squad. It’s better that there is competition. There are 24 players and all of them are very good. I am in awe of [Miralem] Pjanic when he starts taking command in midfield, and with De Rossi everything is perfect. We understand each other and we know how to play together,” said the 23-year-old. Other players like defender Maicon have also come to the Stadio Olimpico in the last few weeks.
