David Moyes recently revealed that he tried to sign the defensive midfielder Daniele de Rossi from As.Roma as he was a high profile target that could have solved some of their current problems.

Moyes said: “We certainly did think in the summer about bringing him here.I don’t think it went as far as a bid, because I think there was something to do with a deadline on his contract. But yes, he was a player we thought was a good player.”

Moyes claims that no official bids or offers were made for Daniele de Rossi but other sources are suggesting that indeed approaches were made including offers made by Manchester United. The recently appointed coach of Manchester United has also been impressed by Atletico Madrid’s Koke but he does not think he will be able to sign Koke in January.

The Italian midfielder of As.Roma Daniele de Rossi revealed that a move to Manchester United would have made him suicidal and despite Moyes saying that no bids were made for him, according to the coach of As.Roma, Rudi Garcia they indeed made offers for Rossi.

“I said to him that I couldn’t lose him at the last minute so we fixed a date after which he would not move,” Garcia told L’Equipe. The first league match came and a few days after Manchester United called the club, called him, but the date had passed and he didn’t move.”

“It was a good thing that I didn’t go to Manchester, now I would have committed suicide!. Last summer I didn’t feel comfortable, I didn’t recognize myself in the relationship with my team-mates and with the fans.”

As.Roma has enjoyed a very impressive campaign in this season as they are topping the Serie A standings alongside Juventus meanwhile Manchester United are struggling just to keep themselves in the middle section of the Premier League, so it seems like Daniele de Rossi’s decision to stay in As.Roma was a good one.
