Italian defensive midfielder Daniele de Rossi is set to be displayed as the highest paid player in the league as Napoli is set to offer Gonzalo Higuain the title.

The argentine had a phenomenal last season and was offered a huge deal to move to China but he refused, preferring the competitive edge of European football.

Chinese outfit, Hebei, offered Higuain a reported 50 million Euros per year. The tempting offer even if taxed 45% income tax rate as applicable in China, the player would have still been able to make over 21 million Euros per season, a figure Cristiano Ronaldo enjoys at Real Madrid. Many players would have accepted the deal without blinking but the Napoli star decided to reject the offer.

De Rossi make about 6.5 million Euros per season at AS Roma where he has played since 2002 but the contract extension from Napoli to Higuain will offer him at least a million Euros more than De Rossi’s wages. The Italian club is reported to have added an ultimatum if he is to accept the deal, else the club would consider selling him to the highest bidder. A lot clubs are keen on landing the player but Arsenal’s offer trumps that of others, even though it remains below the release clause of Napoli for Higuain.

Napoli want the player to accept this offer on time as Higuain hastily rejected the former offer from the club even as the club has assured him of his importance to them. His brother and agent ranted about how poor the club was valuing the player even as there were a lot of interests from other top clubs. Juventus is reported to be keen on getting the player if Real Madrid or Manchester United can complete a world record transfer for Paul Pogba this summer.
